Progress = Happiness

Have you ever received a pay raise you've wanted for years, and you're overjoyed for a day; Then this new income level becomes your new normal?

The joy you felt fades.

That's an example of hedonic adaptation. Just like when you hit a new personal best in the gym, that sense of achievement doesn't last forever.

The antidote to this is to constantly increase our personal standards. Make each month better than the last, and each year better than the previous one. The satisfaction lies not in achieving the goal itself, but making the progress towards it, hence "Progress equals happiness."

Back in 2012 when TD was just a baby, we wanted to recognize some of our strongest members showcasing their impressive lifts on a small whiteboard.

Our first “Leaderboard” from 2012

But the names kept getting replaced as more people competed for the top spot!

A decade later, the team ourselves (who do this for a living) is struggling to keep our own spots on the board. This leader board is partly to blame for the insanely strong culture we have.

*all strength tests are scored based on times of Bodyweight (BW) lifted.

To get on the board - simple:

  1. Film your lift or exercise

  2. HERE is the submission link. (Or scan the QR code next to the Leader Board)

  3. We will need to review and verify if it's a good lift.

*Rules and standards apply. Don't hesitate to message us any questions.

Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in your way. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use."
